Full Steam Ahead

Whew. Last week was a toughie...sorry for my whine whine whiner blog. But life is oodles better.

Logan and I talked everything through..as of now, we're going to Europe! We decided, yes, it's a LOT, I mean, A LOT of money, but we think if we keep saving our pennies we'll be just fine. Plus, we decided if we don't go now, we probably never will and we'd regret it for the rest of our lives.

We'll be competiting at the Ballroom World Championships in Blackpool, England. We'll be taking our two medlies with us...the standard and latin. I'm in the standard medley and I'm pretty excited to get to work on it.

A medley is a themed 6 miniute long dance that showcases our technique in the 5 standard (or latin) dances...Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep. Our theme for this medley is "French." I haven't heard the finished cut of the music, but think...pixar's ratatouille meets Cinderella's grande ball. That's what it sounds like to me anyway. Our dresses I believe are blue...we got measured for them today. I get my very own customed made dress. That may sound totally lame to anyone else, but I think it's really cool. I've never had a costume made to fit my body specifically!! We have a long, long, long road ahead of us to prepare for this. Really, we should have started preparing for this competition last August, but there was some team dramas and it ultimately didn't get started. I'm frustrated that we haven't put a serious dent in it yet but it'll get there...hopefully. I love our choreographer, Chris, and I have some immense faith in him to pull us together.

As of now, our scheduleythingie is..

May 28--Leave Utah and take a million hour flight to Blackpool, England. We'll have morning rehearsals here every day to get ready for our competition.

June 2--The Standard Medley will compete against several other countries for the world title. It's a big deal. I'm nervous.

June 4--Latin Medley will compete. I'm not as nervous for this part since I'm not in that dance..hee hee.

Either June 1 or 3 we'll be taking a day trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. I'm SOOOO excited to be able to show Logan around where I got to travel to and perform at in 2006 with the Burklyn Youth Ballet. I totally fell in love with Edinburgh. I can't wait to go back just for this day trip. Ha!!

June 5--We'll take a train down to London and stay until June 10. We get to do all the sight seeing, wander around, all that jazz.

June 10--We take the Channel (is that what it is?) from London to Paris.

June 12--Our one year anniversary. In Paris. Heck Yeah.

June 16 or 17--We'll come home, most likely completely exhausted, sick of the other dancers, and ready to crash for the rest of the summer. But I am still so excited to travel! I've never been anywhere else in Europe but Scotland, and Logan's never been at all, so we're very excited to take this adventure together. If you find a money tree...let us know and we'll come prune it for ya to help pay for the trip. Ha ha.

And if any of you have been to any of the places we're going to go to, please e-mail me or comment or call or whatever and tell us where we should go for sure and what we should do and see and where to eat and all that.

Now that we've decided to go for sure, I'm feeling a lot more calm about it. I'm so grateful for a loving Father in Heaven to calm my heart, and a patient beyond reason husband to help me through stressful times. I'm truly a blessed girl.

On other news...on Wednesday I'll be turning 21. I will be able to serve alcohol until my heart's content...except that I'm, thankfully, not a waitress anymore. Logan has work he can't get off, but luckily my nephew and I share birthdays so I'll get to go party hearty with the Spences.

Ten days after me, Logan turns 23, and three days after that, we're back in Disneyland celebrating our birthdays together. I can hear Cali calling my name already. "Camille...come to our sunny state full of happiness and wonder and Toy Story Mania and Splash Mountain..."
